• Provisional Registry
  • Registered social workers who are completing registration requirements including, supervised practice hours per legislation or other requirements
• Courtesy Registry
  • Registered social workers (RSW) from another jurisdiction who are temporarily or remotely practicing social work in Alberta

Status

• Active Practice Permit
  • A registered social worker with an active ACSW practice permit to practice social work
• Inactive
  • An ACSW member not actively engaged in social work practice and does not have a practice permit (e.g. parental leave)
• Withdrawn
  • An ACSW member who has retired, left the profession, left the province or country, etc.
• Suspended
  • Practice permit has been suspended by ACSW
• Cancelled
  • Registration and practice permit is cancelled

Status Reason

• Discipline Action
  • Registered social worker who is subject to disciplinary finding
• Discipline Sexual Misconduct
  • Registered social worker who has mandatory sanction(s) as a result of sexual misconduct finding
• Discipline Sexual Abuse
  • Registered social worker who has mandatory sanctions as a result of a sexual abuse finding
• Pending Discipline Outcome
  • Registered social worker who has a suspended practice permit pending discipline outcome
• Practice Limitation
  • Registered social worker who has a temporary or permanent practice limitation on the ACSW practice permit

Practice Enhancements

Recognition of additional skills, authorizations and/or use of titles such as Registered Clinical Social Worker, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and authorization for the Restricted Activities of psychosocial intervention

• Authorization to perform restricted psychosocial intervention
  • A registered social work who is authorized to independently perform restricted psychosocial interventions with an expectation of treating a mental illness that grossly impairs judgement, behaviour, capacity to recognize reality, or ability to meet the ordinary demands of life.
• Clinical Registry
  • Registered social worker who has a voluntary practice enhancement acquired through additional education and supervised practice focusing on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illness, emotional, and other behavioral concerns. Allows for use of title, Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW).
• Approved Clinical Supervisor
  • Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW) with advanced training and practice in the area of clinical supervision
